Dubrovnik, Croatia is located in the south of Croatia on the Adriatic Sea that attracts people from all over the world for many reasons. This city is known as the “postcard city” and after about 10 minutes of being there, you can see why.

Dubrovnik is known for its 16th century Old Town, which became UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979. One of the neat things about the Old Town is the preserved city walls, which you can walk along for 12 euros.

The Strada is the main shopping street in the city of Dubrovnik in Croatia and is the perfect place to go to get a feel of the Old Town’s energy.

If you are a Game of Thrones fan, this is the ideal place for you. Dubrovnik is the location where this film was shot, attracting fans from all over the world. There are multiple tours throughout the week (like the photo below) with guides that are dressed up and will take you and explain the different scenes from the movie.

After walking around the Old Town, you have multiple options on exciting things you can do. What I suggest is going up to the top of Srd. Hill and getting a breathtaking view the surrounding area. One is able to take a cable car for around 12 euros, or hike one hour up the hill.

Honestly, one of the best decisions I made was making the 1 hour hike up the mountain. If your visiting in the summer months, it would be best to do what I did and wake up early and start your hike. Keep in mind that you do need to wear good shoes because the terrain is very rocky.

The reason I suggest hiking up the mountain, rather than the cable car is not only because you get the exercise, but because you get to see different views that you wouldn’t get otherwise.

Now do you understand why this is called the “postcard city?”
