Hot Air Ballooning Cappadocia, Turkey

Cappadocia is known around the world as one of the best places to fly with hot air balloons, which is exactly why it was top on my list of places to go. Ever since I was young I have had the desire to have this unique experience and thanks to Voyager Balloons, they made my dream become a reality.

The reason I chose Voyager Balloons is because they are ranked number 1 on various travel forums and recommended by many guide books, including Lonely Planet. This kind of adventure can be very scary for some people, but the experience is totally worth it.  There is a risk in everything, this is actually one of the safest action activities.

Believe it or not balloons has one of the best safety records. Voyager has flown more than 96,000 people over Cappadocia over the last ten years. The best thing about Voyager Balloons is that their nine balloons are the newest, safest and most comfortable balloons available.

I had my experience with Voyager Balloons in July and the weather was absolutely incredible. It’s important to check the weather, because if the conditions are not good they will cancel the flight for a better day (safety first). The best flying times are between April and October and whenever you go, make sure you reserve your space ahead of time.

You can book on their website or call +90 532 347 1514 to make your reservation

There are 4 different types of flight you can choose from:

  • Standard Flights are 140€
  • Comfort Flights are 180€
  • Deluxe Flights are 250€
  • Exclusive Flights are 500€ per person.

Personally, I suggest spending a bit more money and doing the comfort flight. That is the flight I did and I was happy because the standard flights can have up to 28 people and it can become a bit crowded. My flight had 8 people and was just right for me.

The morning of the flight started with Voyager Balloons coming to pick me up at where I was lodging and then taking me to their company to enjoy a delicious assorted breakfast. They took us by van to our launching site, took some pictures and we were up in the air just in time to see the sunrise.

On my day of flying there were 70 other balloons flying and we went up over 800 meters (much higher than many companies fly).

After an hour of flying we gently landed and celebrated with a bottle of champaign, pictures and a certificate of completion. I was picked up around 4am and they took me back just around 7:30 am.

This experience with Voyager Balloons was one that I will never forget for the rest of my life!
